Beschrijving: Houtige halfheesters. Blad gesteeld, enkelvoudig tot geveerd met enkelvoudige blaadjes. Bloemen knikkend, horizontaal- of rechtopstaand, klokvormig tot uitgespreid, 4-12 cm doorsnede. Bloemdekblaadjes 4-6, wit tot roodpurper of violetblauw.
Bloeitijd: Op jonge scheuten van juni tot oktober
Verwantschap: Alle cultivars zijn direct of indirect afkomstig van Clematis integrifolia, in ieder geval voor één van de ouders.
Gebruik: Als klimplant of over lage heesters of in de border. De meeste cultivars geven goede snijbloemen.
Snoeiwijze: Sterk terugsnoeien tot 10 cm boven de grond in februari.
Winterhardheid in Nederland: Winterhard.
Plantdiepte: Dieper dan de potrand.
